I ve always seen Rogue Planet as a bit of an oddball entry into the Expanded Universe It s a standalone plot that isn t part of a trilogy, and yet it draws on and references The Phantom Menace and also the Yuuzhan Vong plotline And yet it s not essential to either If you skipped reading this one, you would be able to understand the Vong series later on perfectly well In fact the Vong series is so much further down the line from Rogue Planet that the references here are really littletha I ve always seen Rogue Planet as a bit of an oddball entry into the Expanded Universe It s a standalone plot that isn t part of a trilogy, and yet it draws on and references The Phantom Menace and also the Yuuzhan Vong plotline And yet it s not essential to either If you skipped reading this one, you would be able to understand the Vong series later on perfectly well In fact the Vong series is so much further down the line from Rogue Planet that the references here are really littlethan easter eggs, despite the fact that most of the plot is centred around them.I think a lot of what makes this book so kooky is when it was written It s got a publication date of 2000, and we follow a young Anakin and Obi Wan s...

Very well done Deeper and richer than typical fan fiction, Rogue planet almost transcends the Star Wars constraints Obviously, a story starring Young Anakin and Obi Wan has certain constraints But set as ...

Okay I don t know what to say about this book s plotline It s fine, but it seems like it could be described as things just happening to Obi Wan and Anakin For the main overarching story they are supposed to be investigating the disappearance of a Jedi, but it seems like they mostly just chill on Zonoma Sekot and wait for answers to be revealed to them Also several things toe the line between wow a unique imaginative idea and okay that s Too Weird The thing with Sienar and Tarkin was al Okay I don t know what to say about this book s plotline It s fine, but it seems like it could be described as things just happening to Obi Wan and Anakin For the main overarching story they are supposed to be investigating the disappearance of a Jedi, but it seems like they mostly just chill on Zonoma Sekot and wait for answers to be revealed to them Also several things toe the line between wow a u...

A Serviceable Entry in the Legends SeriesThis book was very different from many of the traditional Star Wars novels I ve read Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are sent on a mission to a far away planet to learn what happened to a fellow Jedi that went missing They meet and are aided and abetted by several different species along the way In addition, Future Grand Moff Tarkin steps in to do Chancellor Palpatine s bidding with treachery along the way The book was most interesting when explor A Serviceable Entry in the Legends SeriesThis book was very different from many of the traditional Star Wars novels I ve read Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are sent on a mission to a far away planet to learn what happened to a fellow Jedi that went missing They meet and are aided and abetted by several different species along the way In addition, Future Grand Moff Tarkin steps in to do Chancellor Palpatine s bidding with treachery along the way The book was most interesting when exploring Anakin and Obi Wan s relationship and it s changing dynamic, neither is completely comfortable with the other Flashes of future Vader show in the boy as well I also enjoyed the machinations of Tarkin and Wraith, each trying to anticipate and sabotage the other Tarkin s tactical advantage serves him well on some fronts, and his arrogance causes unforseen problems The slowest part of the book is on the Planet Senokat, with the description of the formal ship building It can be...

The blurb review above is ebullient with praise for Bear s characterizations of the protagonists This praise is well earned Anakin and Obi Wan are written in rare form here, granting some deeper insights into their motivations and psyches than one normally gets in SW It s quite refreshing to see Anakin as a slightly matured version of the lovable, noble person he was in TPM, rather than the whiny douchebag he is until Palpatine gets ahold of him The plot is a bit strange and arbitrary Obi W The blurb review above is ebullient with praise for Bear s characterizations of the protagonists This pra...
